We’ll also have volunteers from The Brandywine Zoo on site to show you how to recycle and reuse old T-shirts to make dog toys. It’s a fun, family-friendly way to support animal rescue, learn something new, and enjoy a great afternoon with some very cute dogs.

Give your old t-shirts a second life by transforming them into reusable tote bags and dog toys—no sewing experience required. It's an easy, creative way to reduce waste while learning simple upcycling techniques you can use at home.
Bring a few t-shirts (the more you bring, the more projects you can make!). Different colored shirts are perfect for creating colorful dog toys, and graphic or logo tees make especially fun tote bags.

Celebrate spring in the Scout garden with an evening of flowers, creativity, and portraits.
Portraits in Bloom begins with a hands-on floral crown workshop led by Maria of Vera Studio, where participants will learn how to design and create their own beautiful crown using seasonal blooms and greenery. Maria will guide everyone through the process step by step, making the workshop welcoming for beginners and experienced creatives alike.
After the crowns are complete, guests have the option to work with local photographer Becca, who will capture relaxed portraits of participants wearing their handmade floral crowns. The natural garden setting and fresh flowers create a perfect backdrop for timeless spring photos.
This event is designed to be inclusive and fun for families, friends, couples, and individuals of any gender. It’s a creative way to spend time together, learn something new, and leave with both a handmade piece and a beautiful portrait.

About the Event
Slow down, get creative, and reconnect at Scout’s Paint & Plant Night. This hands-on workshop guides you through painting your own terracotta pot, then planting a succulent to take home—a living piece of art that reflects your intention and creativity.
Sip on herbal tea as your pot dries, and add a positive affirmation on a popsicle stick to give your creation an extra dose of encouragement. It’s a perfect evening to relax, create, and connect.

About the Event
Celebrate Earth Day by giving back to our community and our planet! Join Scout for a neighborhood clean-up—grab gloves, pick up a trash bag, and choose your route. Whether you start at the Brandywine Zoo or JSC, your efforts will make a visible difference.
Once your route is complete, bring your collected trash back to Scout Cafe (drop off in the back by garbage bins) and enjoy a free drip coffee as a thank-you for helping make Wilmington a cleaner, greener place.

How It Works
Start: Arrive at Brandywine Zoo or JSC anytime after 10 AM.
Grab Supplies: Pick up gloves, trash bags, and select your route.
Clean: Walk your route, collecting litter along the way.
Finish: Drop off your trash at Scout Cafe and grab your free coffee!
